Why is NLP important?

The goal of natural language processing is to allow the previous interaction so that non-programmers can obtain useful information from computing systems.

By using NLP, knowledge can be structured and organised in order to perform  many tasks summarised below. NLP can thus be seen as a tool which allow us to harness the knowledge contained in large collections of text, e.g. on the web. Using NLP methods, we can transform unstructured text into structured data, which in turn can inform countless applications (e.g. terminology management, content management, machine translation, assistance for people with language impairments, …).
