The Insight Centre for Data Analytics is a joint initiative between researchers at UCD, NUI Galway, UCC, DCU, and other partner institutions. It aspires to bring together a critical mass of more than 200 researchers from Ireland’s leading ICT centres to develop a new generation of data analytics technologies in a number of key application areas. The new research centre that started its operation since 1st July 2013 is funded by Science Foundation Ireland and a wide range of industry partners. Insight’s research focus encompasses a broad range of data analytics technologies and challenges, from machine learning and data mining, media analytics and optimization and decision analytics to personalization and recommender systems, the Semantic Web and Linked Data and the Sensor Web. And together with more than 30 partner companies Insight researchers are solving critical challenges in the areas of Connected Health and the Discovery Economy.

Further, PERACTON is addressing the High Speed Trading area, having a capability of processing within MAARS billions of data points per day, looking and tens of thousands of financial securities and handling hundreds of dynamic financial parameters.


Redlink is an SME in the field of content analysis and linked data publishing. Redlink provides services and products that turn content analysis and search, as well as data management into a commodity. Since this area is still evolving at a rapid pace, it is important that Redlink remains in touch with the developments happening in the relevant research areas in the coming years. The direction of our research activities obviously depends heavily on the requirements of our customers and partners.
